The decision of whether to improve the life of a child or take care of an ailing parent lends its hand to the dissolution of a contemporary Iranian marriage. Winner of Best Foreign Film Oscar.
An Iranian couple is torn between moving to abroad to better their daughter’s life, or stay in Iran to aid a sick parent. After filing for a divorce, the wife moves in with her parents, while the man stays with his ailing father, using a maid to fill his wife’s absence. Shortly after, the man learns that more than just his marriage may be at stake. (Sony Pictures Classic)
