In collaboration with Westminster College, this innovative program pairs a classic film with a lecture by a student from the college. 2011 programming included The Big Red One, Fallen Angels, Sunrise, High and Low, and The Apartment.
Many of SLFS films present opportunities for further dialogue. SLFS brings artists in film, hosts Skype Q&A’s, and where appropriate coordinates Panel Discussions. In 2011, SLFS hosted Stephen Katz, Frederick Wiseman, Tyler Measom, Keith Gordon, Harmony Korine, and soldiers from the documentary Restrepo.
SLFS offers tours to elementary school groups at the Tower Theatre that include a short Chaplin film presentation, popcorn and a peek at the projection booth.
Ten films from ten nations by ten directors presented annually to over 600 high school students. Also available to the general public for a week each fall. Collaborations include; Park City Film Series and University of Utah Department of Film and Media.
Serving low-income, shelter, foster and group-home children, SLFS presents diverse films such as Cat in Paris,
and The Red Balloon, to over 1,000 children aged 2-7 each year. This free program Includes bus transportation, concessions and t-shirts for each child.
