Art House Theater Week celebrates the art house theater and the cultural role it plays in a community. It is a week to recognize the year-round contributions of film and filmmakers, patrons, projectionists, and staff, and the brick and mortar theaters that are passionately dedicated to providing access to the best cinematic experience.

SLFS is proud to be a participant with a schedule of special events throughout the week from 9/19-9/24 at our historic Tower Theatre and a full slate of great offerings at our Broadway Centre Cinemas.

Here is the daily schedule for each individual film that is part of our Art House Theater Week event series:

The Rubber Room is more than a hangout for malcontents. It is a state of mind where crazies believe that art is more powerful than money, a dangerous idea in a world run by filthy rich screw bums who want to ruin everything. Someone must stand up to these greedy rich buggers and Alexis Thrill, the world's worst writer, steps forward to lead the charge. His call to action, "What good is art if it doesn't start a riot!" (Runs through Thursday 9/28.)
Saturday 9/23: 7:00 PM; $10 Regional Premiere Event with director and cast
Sunday 9/24; 2:00 pm (film only); Regular Admission;

Part mystery, part love story, and port societal critique, LOOKING FOR DAVID is a very personal film that provides a searing look into our naïveté about painkiller addiction. As one viewer wrote: “The picture that emerged of David was of someone so loved and gifted, flawed and troubled, and yet so achingly human. I thinking that's what makes the film such a gift for all who watch it.” Join the (almost) entire cast and crew for the premiere and a Q&A to follow. (Runs through Thursday 9/28.)
Sunday 9/24: 4:00 PM; $10; Regional Premiere Event with director Q&A

 A portrait of Highlights Magazine following the creation of the cultural phenomenon's 70th Anniversary issue, from the first editorial meeting to its arrival in homes, and introducing the people who passionately produce the monthly publication for "the world's most important people,"...children. Q&A to follow. (Runs through Thursday 9/28.)
