Live Q&A with Ryan White after the screening

On June 26, 2015, the United States became the twenty-first country to legalize same-sex marriage as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Obergelell v. Hodges. The court ruled that the denial of marriage licenses to same-sex couples violates the Due Process and the Equal Protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

The road to this decision was long, and began with the legal battle to overturn Proposition 8 in California. Emotional and analytical by turn "The Case Against 8" is a thoroughly engaging documentary that draws back the curtain on one of the most contentious legal cases of recent years that paved the way for the ultimate Supreme Court ruling.

On Thursday, November 12 the Tanner Humanities Center & SLFS will present a free screening of "The Case Against 8" at Broadway featuring a live question and answer session with the film's director, Ryan White.
