Visiting Film Artist: Filméxico 2019

Filméxico 2019 this year includes three feature films, a documentary, and a shorts program featuring the work of director Gabriella Bardillo, for the 8th annual celebration of contemporary Mexican film.  
On Saturday 5/19 following the screening of ESMERALDA'S TWILIGHT (Cría Puercos) we will be having a conversation with director Ehecatl García and lead actress Concepción Márquez.  
 

Ehecatl García

García was born in Mexico City, in June 30, 1981. His education was completely made in public schools. He studied journalism at the UNAM and then Cinematography at the Cinematographic Training Center.
He has worked as script supervisor for film, television and advertising. He has written and directed the shorts: Qué importa corazón, which participated in the FICG (Guadalajara, 2011) and Laszlo, which was presented at the Biarritz Film Festival (France, 2009). In 2011, his script for the short film Huellita (Mexico 2012) was awarded IMCINE’s support, with which he produced and directed the short film, which ran through several children's film circuits.

In April, his first feature film, Esmeralda’s Twilight received a nomination as Best Opera Prima for the Mexican Academy of Film awards, the Ariel (Ariels = Mexican Oscars), which will take place in June 2019. Ehécatl enjoys Sundays’ soccer, especially if UNAM’s Pumas are playing, and the half-time beers.

 

 

Concepción Márquez

Concepción Márquez was born in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. She is an actress, known for The Zone (2007), Ernestina (2012) and Esmeralda's Twilight (2018).
